The Citizens League election series, The Voting Booth Chronicles, continues on Tuesday, August 9th with Post-Conventional Wisdom: An inside look at the two major party conventions. The balloons will have dropped, the nominees confirmed, and the chants and cheers in Cleveland and Philadelphia will have died down. Both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions will be wrapping up at the end of July. To look into what happened, and why it happened, we welcome: Jeff Larson, CEO of the 2016 Republican National Convention Ken Martin, Minnesota DFL Party Chair Join us Tuesday, August 9th, at the Minneapolis Event Center, where we’ll discuss the impact of the conventions as the 2016 presidential race moves into its final months. About the panelists: Jeff Larson, CEO of the 2016 Republican National Convention – Larson served as RNC Senior Advisor for the 2014 election cycle after serving as Chief of Staff during the 2012 presidential election cycle. He served as the CEO of the 2008 Host Committee for the Republican National Convention in Saint Paul. Earlier in his career, he was a campaign staffer for George H. W. Bush, a Regional Political Director for the RNC, and an advisor on both of George W. Bush’s presidential campaigns. Ken Martin, Minnesota DFL Party Chair – Before his election as Chair, Martin spent the past two decades working for several elected officials and managing a variety of issue and election campaigns. In 2010, Martin worked to elect a DFL governor as the Executive Director of WIN Minnesota and then as the Director for Governor Dayton’s recount efforts. In 2008, Martin ran the Vote Yes campaign to pass the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, a ballot initiative to dedicate funding to Minnesota’s arts, environmental and historical treasures.
