Public Safety Survey
The City of Saint Paul has created the “Community-First Public Safety Commission,” a 48 member group consisting of representatives from the public and private sectors, nonprofit, community and neighborhood organizations, educational institutions, peace officer associations, city commissions, labor and advocacy organizations, healthcare, philanthropy, and residents.
The Commission is focusing on alternative first-response options to priority-4 and priority-5 (non-emergency) calls for service, and approaches for ongoing community involvement in the City’s Community-First Public Safety Plan, including considering the creation of a city-staffed office to drive and integrate this work. The Commission will convene for 5 months in a process led by the Citizens League, and will provide recommendations to the Mayor and City Council in May 2021. As a Chamber, we want to hear from you. This brief survey will help us form an opinion on the needs of the business community, and ensure the voices of Chamber members are heard. Answers are anonymous and your identity will not be shared unless you give permission. We also encourage membership to let the Commission know how you feel by sending in your own comments. For the purpose of this survey, “community” refers to the area from the State Capitol to the Minneapolis border, and from Interstate 94 to Larpenteur Avenue. If you do not work or live in this area, please list your perceptions of this section of Saint Paul.
