SUMMARY:Economic Development Meeting - March 2019
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we learn about the Minnesota Compass project.\n\nOur Collective Narrative: The Potential Economic Influence and Impact of Minnesota's Changing Demographics\n\nMinnesota's economy is vibrant\, due in large part to excellent human capital. But staying vibrant could be challenging. We are facing a potential workforce shortage in the coming decades. Jobs should continue to grow\, while most regions of the state expect to see declines in their working-age populations. The story of changing demographics isn't a singular experience. Each community across the state is experiencing population changes in different ways. And with population changes come changes in attitudes and perceptions about our communities. For professionals in economic development\, understanding the story of our community is a critical part of our work. But understanding the more comprehensive community requires grounding ourselves in our own story. During this session\, we'll spend time reflecting on our own story in order to dig into the changing story of our current communities and analyze the impact all of this has on economic development.
