DESCRIPTION:Kenya McKnight-Ahad\, president and CEO of the Black Women's Wealth Alliance (BWWA) headlines 2022 Leadership Summit\n\nNoon-1 pm\n\n\n\n \n\nA Minneapolis resident for over 38 years\, McKnight started her career as a public and charter school educator. Since 2002\,she has served in community and held key leadership roles across the economic development sector in metro Minnesota\, including membership on community development boards\, commissions\, and related initiatives. Additionally\, she has extensive experience as a direct business service provider\, lending facilitation\, racial equity strategist and has served thousands of individuals across the U.S. and engaged in several key partnerships\, coalitions and collaborations influencing millions of racial equity investments and policies. Well-known in the region and community\, McKnight has garnered several awards and honors.\n\nMcKnight- Ahad is a real estate investor & development and has several certificates of completion across cooperatives\, housing development\, regional planning and more with the City of Mpls and others. McKnight Ahad is also the first African American Met Council appointee to serve on the transportation Advisory board for 6 yrs.\n\n\n\n\n\nMorning Workshops Offered between 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM \n\n\n\nThis year\, attendees will have the opportunity to attend 3 breakout sessions.\n\nYou can choose one of the following:\n\n \n\n5G\, Powering Ethical Leadership\n\nLed by Patricia Jesperson\n\nAchieving access\, speed\, and organizational success through ethical and inclusive leadership\n\nUsing the 5G framework of guidepost\, growth\, gratefulness\, grit and generosity\, this session delivers a dynamic definition of Ethics in the workplace. It illuminates for participants: 1) ethics is not an abstract or scholarly construct\, 2) one's character shows up every day in their role as a manager and leader\, and 3) clarity in one's ethical framework creates the ability to achieve individual and organization-wide success in an increasingly diverse workplace.\n\n\n\nMaking Connections through Community Engagement\n\nLed by Jenean Gilmer\n\nKnowing your community is essential for growing and advancing your organization. Augsburg University has worked to cultivate deep and meaningful relationships with neighbors\, entrepreneurs\, small businesses\, nonprofits and community development organizations. Many of those relationships are with the large East African community in Cedar-Riverside\, with people hailing from Somalia\, Ethiopia\, and Eritrea. We'll walk the neighborhood to learn how it has changed over time\, how we remain responsive to ongoing changes\, and talk with people to learn more about their experiences. Cultivating community connections creates cultural and economic wealth and can help build your organization in ways that are sustainable and enduring.\n\n\n\niOpt Leadership Analysis\n\nLed by Tom Morgan\n\nThe I Opt is a leadership assessment tool designed to help us understand how we gather\, process\, and act on the information that is all around us. This information shapes our leadership style. To effectively lead others\, particularly teams\, it's helpful to understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of our own approach. This workshop will help you learn more about yourself\, enhance your capacity to work in teams\, and to use personal data to advance our ability to be effective. All participants will complete a short online assessment prior to May18 and will have a personal profile report available to them at the session.
